Disappointing. They managed to drag out an admittedly unusual case in a most uninteresting fashion, in my opinion.0

I felt the same @Newly_retired nowhere near as interesting as it could have been. It really did feel dragged out.
A bit like the Monday night drama Inheritance. I really don't care who gets the money in that case, I don't much like any of them. Probably won't watch it any further.0 -
I started to watch it then googled the story instead. Got all the facts and outcome digested in five minutes.0

Forgot to watch as thought it was on tonight! Doesn't sound like I missed much, I was hoping it was going to be as full of twists and turns as sagas on here can be.0

The case(s) themselves were interesting, but the story(ies) could have been told in about 30 mins, if they didn't pad it out and continuously repeat themselves after each set of ads. But that's usual with these types of programmes, they must think we have the memory of a goldfish, to not be able to remember what we just watched 3 mins ago!!!
I'd have liked more detail on the Bernard Matthews case, as they mentioned 3 wills, but then didn't explain that one very well. I'm not bothered enough to google it, mind.
I agree that we get as much (if not more) drama and twists and turns from reading threads on here, sadly.
I shall watch the rest of the series, as I find the subject interesting. Even if it's dumbed down. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.98% of current retirement "pot" (as at end April 2025)1 -
I watched the 2nd episode last night, and it left me a little confused.
The case of the lady who lost everything because she challenged a will, and lost.
They didn't make it clear that the original will (that left her 50% plus a life interest in the house) had stated that it was "in contemplation of marriage", but it must have. A later will, written after they married, leaving her everything was never signed.
As this original will was drawn up BEFORE she married her husband, it would have been deemed invalid upon marriage otherwise, and intestacy would have applied.
They didn't make that clear in the programme, which seemed like a big omission to me. Or have I missed something?
Again the real winners were the lawyers!!! Kerching!!!

I couldn't fathom that one either - I think the programme structure was weak - they repeatedly emphasised how hard done by and weapy she was, but I couldn't quite grasp the core arrangement of who had started the legal action and on what basis. It felt like there was some salient fact we weren't appraised of - not helped when they only seem to cover the story from one perspective. I didn't bother watching it this week.1

Just caught up on the three episodes so far. As usual they have spun 15 minutes to make it last an hour.
In the 3rd episode I was completely bemused how a daughter would let an unknown man move into her mothers home and not take action to safeguard her well-being. To me this would have been a red flag from day 1. I suspect there was far more to this than was included in the programme.3 -
I also thought it was odd that this man appeared & then moved in.
Mother already had a dementia diagnosis, & daughter resented the 'relationship', mother supposedly sometimes thought he was a carer installed there by daughter but no safeguarding alarm bells went off for daughter!
End result seemed a foregone conclusion, but it did seem to me that daughter had used contentious probate solicitors, no win no fee. Possibly didn't appreciate it still means costs can be awarded against her, £200k cost her HER own house.I
I prefer to record & fast forward chunks.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0
