So dea table instruct my employer to take £235 out of my wages on my payslip

I already had a payment plan set up £35 pm

I phoned, they pass me on and the debt collector asks do I really need the £235

I go well it's a huge chunk and I will not have any savings

Electric bills, so much, no savings, no emergency savings, buying new car, insurance

They said if hardship they can give a refund contact them back

I thought benefit UC

I'm sure I had only £550 left

Is there anything i can do, my statement would indicate only saving £300pm now and I certainly need emergency savings

£235 for someone on minimum wage a huge chunk

Even saving £300pm, I'd still need emergency

Who are taking the payment and what is it for?

You need to give them a statement of all your income and details of all your expenses for themn to assess whether you can poay less.

£235 is an amount charged by Enforcement Agents to collect debts that have been subject to Court action.

To take further enforcement actions including asking employers to deduct amount from wages, appears to indicate problems in collecting the debt.

You should use an online benefits calculator such as Entitledto or Turn2us to check what you could claim.

Contact Citizens Advice to ask about debt relief solutions such as Breathing Space.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

I did start another payment plan with regards to paying dwp back

They did not take my payment in aug, sept which I did tell them and was late in setting up

However will this go on my credit file, I was never informed of this

I was told I can contact them for a refund

Im sure I only had £600 to pay back

I believe you would need to provide your income and outgoings to see whether the repayment amounts mean that you cannot pay your priority bills and the amount requested leaves you in hardship. If you can currently afford more than the payment amount into savings then hardship claim would likely fail...once it's paid off sooner you will be able to put the extra £35 per month you were expecting to pay into savings

From what i read, you're worried that DWP taking £235 means you won't be able to put this money into savings?

A lot of people don't have savings and the money they receive is the money they have to live on.

I would assume if you have savings you can use for the £235 they're taking then it's not hardship. If you didn't have savings and needed the £235 to live on, then it would be hardship.
