Does anyone know how long it usually for the form you fill in after someone dies so that any over or under payment can be calculated to be processed by DWP?

  • I rang them the day after mum died and it was instant. It may have helped that she died two days before the next payment was due so nothing was owed either way

I I thought there was a grace period following death before attendance allowance was stopped (I may be wrong)

The Attendance Allowance helpline have confirmed that the form was received on 30th June but I am still waiting.  That will be 11 weeks tomorrow.  Due to mistakes by DWP I didn’t even get a form to fill in until three months after my mum died.

You should have been told to ring the Tell us once phone line which would have stopped all benefits.

Is there anyone who is able to assist me with this as I am still waiting?  It will be three months on Saturday.  Has anyone else sent in a form at the end of June and heard back?

I did use the tell us once service online but could not proceed until I had a code from the Registrar.  Because my mum needed a postmortem there was a couple of weeks delay in being able to register her death.  I don’t know why I did not get sent the required firm to fill in.

Are her benefits still being paid?
