Gift Aid Question

Dear MSE Community,

Please can someone confirm whether one can Gift Aid a donation to charity if the person is in receipt of state benefits?  I've had a search online, and can't find an answer.

Does that person pay income tax or tax on investment income ?  If yes - up to the level of tax paid
