Has anyone been able to get an insurance claim with bymiles. They it seems are just broker and they use a third party call centre. The call centre doesn’t process claims they just forward you to an insurance company. Mine they tell me is uk insurance. But uk insurance say it’s not them. Looking on the motor insurance database it says I am insured but who with I have no idea!

what does it say on your T&Cs?  It should be noted somewhere there.  Look at the glossary to see if there's something obvious otherwise you might have to look all the way through it.

They are a broker and your policy schedule will identify who your insurer is (they may call them an underwriter rather than insurer).

The MID has two tools, one is to check your own car which is free and simply gives a yes/no answer as at today. The second one is intended for those involved in car accidents where you can ask for the insurance details of the third party on a specific date. They charge a small fee (think £10) but give you the name of the insurer, policy number and telephone number for the claims department.

UK Insurance is the underwriting entity behind Direct Line Group, certainly historically (like many insurers) they were fairly fragmented and so if you called Direct Line they'd not be able to see your policy with Churchill or NIG despite them all being UKI. NIG is their broker distributed products and so would be the most likely candidate if it is UKI however I didn't think they did personal lines motor. Certainly the By Miles website lists UK Insurance as being on their panel.

I made One at fault Minor Claim, yet 2023 Renewal was very reasonable.
I recall not managing to get Tel answer at the accident, though swapped details and got through next morning.
Only other slight hiccup was a few weeks wait for courtesy car, though that was Genuine Delay with a number of Insurers.
ByMiles have been very good, hope they continue for some time.

Their website still states that there are other insurers on the panel

DLG owns UKI in case you dont know, its their actual insurance entity and underwrites all policies by all their brands now (they used to have 5 or so different underwriting entities)
