Halifax share dealing account : Lloyds dividend.

The final dividend payment date was 23rd May 2023, the pay away cash dividend was payed into my account 3 days later. Fair enough.

The interim dividend payment date was yesterday the 12th. Reading the blurb on the Halifax web site they state : “Pay away money will be in your nominated account by Tuesday 19th September”

So may I ask why the 7 day wait? Are they banking some of the interest for themselves?

  • Hi,
it says will be in account by Tuesday 19th, you might find it is paid in before then.
How much interest do you reckon?

Well, I’m not privy to that question. How many have a share dealing account with Halifax? And how many said account holders have their dividends paid away? But I rather have the cash in my account earning 5% within days rather then it lingering in Halifax’s account for 7 days.

This is why i raised the question. I know others Lloyds investors have already received their cash.

Dividends that are paid away go by BACS, which will add a few days delay before you get the dividend. Halifax is one of the faster dividend payers.

iWeb/Halifax is always slow. It's often slow to credit dividends and interest and it uses Bacs and not faster payments to pay them away. I only put up with iWeb because its cheap. I own a lot of the same OEICS and shares with multiple brokers so I'm able to race them. I have an OEIC that pays interest monthly and with HSBC it's consistently in my account and ready for withdrawal on the due date when I check at c.6am and in my main hub current account minutes later but iWeb... I'll be lucky if it's in my linked account in a week's time.
