About to do Plan A Talk to landowner. Need a bit of advice

Hi All,

I have just received a Parking Charge Notice from Parking Eye for recently overstaying longer than 0 hours 0 minutes max stay time in a local supermarket car park.

Looking back this was from a driving lesson I was giving my son and basically drove into and around the  carpark on a Sunday evening after the store was closed. Technically we didn't actually park, although we were of course on their land for around 55 minutes

I have already appealed the notice on the Parking Eye website as keeper and not disclosing the driver. I am planning to go into the store and speak to the manager to see if they can get the fine revoked. I am just wondering how people might approach this conversation with the manager and am I correct in thinking that I should be talking to the local supermarket manager or going direct to their head office ?

Many Thanks

I can't imagine the manager of the shop is going to give you the light of day given you weren't even a customer.
Suppose it's worth a go in any case.

Long gone are the days when you could drive onto private land without permission and get away with it. By all means contact the store manager or CEO, but don't hold your breath. Take receipts and proof of a loyalty scheme if applicable to show you are a regular customer.
The zero hours zero minutes means the vehicle was clocked by ANPR outside times when a vehicle was permitted to be there. It also means there will be no grace period allowed, not that it would make any difference.

Get photos of the site and signage to see if there are any grounds for appeal there. Also check the NTK to see whether or not it was PoFA compliant. They aren't always, but if it is, it's going to make things more difficult for you.

You didn't park.  A driving lesson isn't parking. Decent appeal there and maybe the retailer will be kind if you are otherwise a customer.

A driving lesson?  Surely you were just investigating where the store was, what it's opening hours were and whether or not you wanted to give them your custom!
  • Update: So I popped into Asda today and talked to a nice lady at Customer Service. She sympathised with my plight and told me not to pay. Unfortunately the manger who can rescind the ticket was not in work, however I have her contact details and am more hopeful of getting this ticket cancelled. Fingers crossed. I went armed with my bank statement showing on average as a household we spend around £600 a month with them including fuel. I didn't get far enough to show them that however as Coupon-mad had suggested it I thought it was a useful tool.
  • Final Update: Visited the store when the manager was in, I apologised and had a good chat with her. She did ask to see evidence that I was a regular customer. Showed her my banking app with regular payments and she said no problem and took the ticket to get it dismissed. Goes to show that talking to the landowner is a useful tactic. Thanks for the help all :-)

I hope you didn't let her take the original?

    I hope that she does!
