Does insurance cooling-off period apply to amendments such as adding a second car?

I told my insurer I wanted temporary cover for a second car. Based on price I added the second car to my *existing* insurance. Unfortunately, I get the impression that when I remove the second car the insurer may re-calculate a higher premium for my first car than I had been paying.

To avoid that possibility, I wonder if I can completely cancel the second-car addition so that the policy goes back to what it was originally, with the premium I agreed when I took the policy out.

As I understand it there's a 14-day 'cooling-off period' when one can cancel a brand new car insurance policy. Does that apply to amendments, too? (I still have a few days left.)

TIA
J

the cancellation rights period applies at the start and not with amendments.

However, it is possible the provider may void the amendment without cost,  if it hasn't come into effect yet, if you ask them.

That seems unlikely. Why would you think that?

Normally when you add a second vehicle to a policy it's as a Temporary Additional Vehicle and is therefore for a finite period. As such you generally dont "take it off" as much as just let it naturally drop off. The exception will be if it's your old car that you are trying to sell etc in which case you will want to stop the insurance as soon as it's handed over to its new owner.
