Didn’t get very far with my list yesterday. We got in a huge muddle with choosing paint colours- it’s really not a job I enjoy. Today will mostly be spent tackling the remaining items from yesterday’s list and DH goes away for work from mid- afternoon so we’ll have a nice cooked lunch altogether before he leaves. Defrosted a homemade apple crumble from the freezer so we’ll have that too.Did have a nice very frugal night in with the teens watching a film last night. It was something my daughter wanted to watch a couple of weeks ago- DH wanted to pay to stream it for something like £8.99- well I found the DVD for 50p at a charity shop instead.Operation ‘Get the Mortgage paid’ Phase 1- Save £243,250.00 by Jan 2027

Today is more exciting than I’d anticipated. Just realised interest hit some savings accounts yesterday - renovation, emergency fund and mortgage pots so some fairly hefty ones. Total received £504.13
We’ve also received a refund from our CC for a disputed transaction. It’s been a bit of an ongoing saga and I suspect that the retailer will appeal it so I’m not counting it as closed but I’m putting the money in the mortgage savings for now at least £675 added from that.Current position

What a month and it’s only a week in! Obviously a lot of these can’t be regular payments but it’s great to see it build up and having this goal means these extras aren’t just being frittered away.Operation ‘Get the Mortgage paid’ Phase 1- Save £243,250.00 by Jan 2027

Wasn’t expecting to be able to add much else this month but under budget on a bill means £12.66 to savings which tips us over to 6.1%. I’m glad I added the % as I find that really motivating as it goes up.In not such great news, Hubby’s car needs more work- quite a big bill coming for that in order to pass MOT. We really need to get on with working out a replacement plan as it just costs us too much money for how little we need a second car. Thankfully we have a savings pot for car maintenance but it’s about to take a bit hit and will leave us short when we get to insurance renewals so I’ll have to look at that at some point.Bathroom renovation has hit a couple of snags which has meant dipping in to our contingency fund a little as it’ll go over budget - so frustrating but at least we have the money to cover it.Current position

Sold some items on Vinted so adding £42 to the mortgage pot.
It’s been a very busy couple of weeks so I’ve not given the budget much attention at all or worked out the deficit that we’ll have in the cars fund but on the other hand we’ve not bought anything outside of what’s been budgeted for this month other than the car bill. The bathroom issues look to be almost resolved and the leak wasn’t our fault and so the builder is getting the issue cleared up at his expense so the contingency fund is safe for another day.Current position

Just updated my signature and noticed we’re at £6971.72 savings for the month. I’m not sure I can possibly leave it that close to £7k and not try my best to get us over that milestone! Current account doesn’t have much if any wiggle room in it especially with so much of the month left and half term about to begin so l’m off to find some more items to list for sale…
