  • Fabulous OP. Always nice to get a bonus.

Good luck with the heating challenge. Elec blanket helped a lot here over the last two years.

That’s a great suggestion. I almost bought some a few times last winter, but just kept putting off the purchase. I did buy two as gifts for other people though. Might have to pull the trigger on that this year… It’s actually feeling very mild again here this weekend- I’ve barely had a jumper on in the house at all which is usual for me.

  • Busy day mostly out of the house yesterday. Today I’m tackling some admin at home and need to plan meals for the next week too.
Two little OP’s today in areas where we are under budget for the month-

    Birthdays spent £2.41 under planned
Dog groom £15.00 saved as he didn’t need a full groom for once - he’s a very mucky and mess pup!

  • Not much happening on the money front this weekend - probably a good thing as that means no I budgeted spending!

We need to go choose some paint and do some painting in the current renovation project- bathroom. It’s starting to come together and we’re excited at the prospect of having a nice new space, one more room ticked off, and most importantly no longer having to share one bathroom with two teens!
I also need to do a little grouting job and return some excess unopened grout to the store. In mse fashion we’re reinstalling a towel rail from another space where it’s not needed, to this bathroom but it’s got some old paint splatters and marks on it so I’ve got to give it a good clean up today ready for the plumber.
I’ve also got a clothing sale to get packed up and one other item I’d like to get listed today too.

Also must remember to get DH to double check what’s going on with an old credit card account that we’re wanting to close, hasn’t been used for a long time but they can’t close it because it apparently shows a small balance… I don’t have online access to this one so will get him to do this today.

Oh and some cleaning to be done too. We’re completely off our normal routines as we’ve got so many trades in and out of the house at the moment. It feels like the most necessary whilst  also being the most pointless thing to be doing, but some of the basics are desperately overdue so I’ll at least get the sheets and towels washed and run the hoover around over the weekend so we don’t feel like we’re sleeping on a layer of building dust.

  • Great focus !
I have finally bought an electric throw and I love it ! I tend to not feel the cold but it’s v snuggly
And will definitely keep heating down in the winter.
So it would be a great gift for your cold OH.

I went for the faux fur heated one I was looking at last year ..£130 but then saw boots were doing a deal for £99 last month and I got a further 10% off plus loads boots points so .. it’s gorgeous and warm
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
