Hi, First post on this site so hello to everyone.
After some advice please,
I am retired and have a monthly Pension, also have 2 x zero hours jobs. I am PAYE on everything.
Called HMRC 3 times last year, 2021-2022 tax year, to ensure my tax was adjusted and correct due to my earnings. Paying 40% tax on Primary income, (My pension) and 40% on 1 of my zero hour incomes and BR on the other income.
Now been hit with a bill for over £6000 from HMRC due to unpaid tax. Please excuse my ignorance, but not sure how, if I am PAYE that I can actually owe this amount of money, surely that's the whole point of being PAYE.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as to what, if any course of redress I could possibly have

Have you looked at the numbers to see if its actually accurate? I.e, what was your taxable income in 2021/22 and how much tax did you actually pay?

If your pension already takes you into higher rate, then surely you should be paying higher rate on income from both employments?

Second, have HMRC shown calculation and does the tax assessed appear to be correct?
Is it the tax assessed or is it the amount against which tax is due? (Do you need to pay £6k, or pay tax on £6k?)0 -
If everything looks in order is highly likely that BR tax code on the 2nd job has caused the issue.0

What is the tax code on the primary incomes, the pension? When you say you are paying 40% tax, presumably this is not on all of this income, only the part above the HR threshold.0

Sounds like simple assessment- uncollectable tax from your tax code. Multiple jobs/incomes cause chaos and that’s probably what’s caused it.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

Shouldn't that lead to a K code at least for future years?
