You can use any chocolate, eg cadburys, if you add oil to it when you melt it.
  • Thanks buyitall, yes i thought that but people are telling me you can't.

    Hi,
Have you checked at your local Thorntons? They sell chocolate specifically for chocolate fountains (no need to add oil). It is quite expensive as you will require 2 bags for the small fountains approx £3.50 per bag. It is well worth it though- no hassels and flows easily.
  • Makro were selling Chocolate fountains, and the Bags to go with.
Aprrox £4.xx from memory, and really big 'catering size' bags!

  • We have a chocolate fountain and always buy tescos milk chocolate. Then prepare as described in the instructions. Have never had a problem or complaints!!
  • We just used cooking chocolate, you know the one for chocolate crispies etc. That worked fine and was delish! Oh...and you get a huge bar for about 50p or so at your local supermarket!
  • I've seen it in BHS for £10 a bag
  • Robert Dyas do the large bags of chocolate especially for fountains

I tend to use the ordinary chocolate from Adsa at about 25p a bar but you need to get half a dozen bars.

We use normal run of the mill chocolate but add a little oil to help it flow. we hire one for an event once & they guy there told us to add the oil too even though we used the proper fountain choc as it helps re flow, consistency & add shine to the choc.
