Amazon homepage targeted ADS

Every time I go to Amazon it shows me things I've recently looked at, and similar items to that I've bought etc. Problem is these are motly Christmas presents.
I guess I could look for and kill a cookie or two, and I know I can click on the "not me" option, but is there an option within ones Amazon account to permanantly turn off the targeted advertising? I don't see one.
Amazon call this "personalised recommendations".
Thanks.

I don't think its possible to turn it off altogether. Although you can teach it if you can be bothered so it won't make recommendations based on the presents you purchased.
If you go to Amazon.co.uk then click the "Your Name Here"'s Store tab. Then down the left hand side you should see a link called "Improve Your Recommendations". This will list all the items you have purchased which you can rate and there is also a tick box which you can use to exclude items from your recommendations.0 -
can you not just do a few random searches as a temp fix?0
