I have a few domain names registered with 123Reg. Any recommendations for an alternative type company with a user control panel?

What do you need feature wise that 123Reg doesn't give you already?

Or are you referring to the features of CPanel?  Not each provider implements that in the same way.

Fasthosts may be an option, just steer clear of GoDaddy.

They are the domain equivalent of Revolut in banking. Severely lacking in ethics, poor practices and untrustworthy.

123Reg have gone too expensive, especially if you have a number of websites. Also support is a bit slow to respond.

Can you explain the poor practices and untrustworthy comments?

Right while renewal of dealing with expired domains there are many cases where godaddy directly starts selling expired domain at higher cost.
You can try Webhostuk.co.uk, if you are looking registration for co.uk domain. Enom or internetbs is also good alternative.
