Hi, my wife has received a parking charge for Strensham services on the M5. The charge correctly shows my wife and I, arriving on the Monday afternoon. The second camera image taken at night does not show the first letter of the registration meaning there are potentially 25 other cars that could have been at this service station. Surely they cannot send a notice when they do not have a complete registration plate and are just taking a guess? For the record we only stayed for less than an hour to grab a coffee and a sandwich and not the 27 hours they claim. What does the law regarding not having all of the letters of the registration plate? Thanks in advance for any help or pointers to UK law on these points.

There's no law on that.
But do you mean you visited the services twice that day? You can't have been there hours, presumably?
Please read the NEWBIES thread and come back and tell us if the NTK is POFA compliant or not, after you've read it over the weekend.

Group Nexus is just a two man band and nothing to fear. They operate different companies and are the "D.ick Turpin" of the motorways
Was the ticket actually from Groupie Nexus or another name ?0 -
Thank you for your help. We only visited the services once that day. The ticket is directly from GroupNexus.0

The second camera shot departing in the early hours of the morning is not our car and they are making a guess at the license plate as there is no first letter and second letter is not clear. The remaining 4 letters match our plate.0

Ah easy enough then.
Use their complaints page and the appeals page. Bombard them and also email their DPO (found on their Privacy page) and threaten to report them to the DVLA for data abuse. No template. Write it angrily.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Authorities are banned from using ANPR for their car parks because it is not fit for purpose, but these Pariahs get away with it in their private parking scams, it's ridiculous that you now have to waste your time and effort on this rubbish. But they will send out any old tosh in the hope people just fall over and pay up in their panic it's just pure greed and arrogance in an at present unregulated scam industry.1
