Now sorted - spoke to Sky and they reinstated all discounts.

Have the discounts actually been removed because they have come to the end of the relevant period ?
If they were on the basis you had a package that included your broadband then they are quite entitled to remove them as you have moved that service elsewhere.
You need to read what you agreed to when you took the package.2 -
Brilliant, thanks for the patronising advice Dad.
My point is that they 'offered' me a choice of accept this price increase or we'll take away other discounts to make it more expensive for you and dressed it up as being "its your choice and its penalty free". Nothing has expired0 -
If your TV discounts were contingent on having a broadband service then you have no reason to complain.
You left the broadband contract of your own volition so any resolution service will not be interested if Sky have followed their procedures.0 -
Can you simply leave Sky Tv package? Or are you tired into this till the end of the term?
Sadly this is one of the dangers of packaged deals, that provide discounts on other products.
Not sure what Ombudsman you would be looking at.
I'm afraid this should have been a question asked about discounts before jumping to save £12. (no offence intended)Life in the slow lane1 -
savo456 said:So as the title suggests, I've recently cancelled my broadband and switched supplier to avoid price increases "penalty free". In retaliation Sky have removed all the discounts on my TV package so it doubles (from £42 to £85) starting next month. Is this really penalty free? And if its explained in the Ts and Cs then it feels like coercion - threatening me with accepting an increase or they'll take away other discounts.
Ive basically avoided a £12 monthly price increase by having my remaining services "adjusted" by £42pcm. Is this just go straight to Ombudsman territory?Depends what yoh agreed to when you signed up.As above if the discounts were dependent on having both services and you break that agreement, then Sky would be entitled to remove it.What good would going to the Ombudsman do? You'd still have to complain to Sky in the first instance, eight weeks and then take it to deadlock, and then its dependent on what the agreement was in the first place. As I say if you upped sticks and moved and that breaks the discount agreement, all the Ombudsman will do is tell you exactly what you can do with your complaint.0 -
Discounts on TV based on having broadband with them, drop the broadband lose the discount on TV - the penalty free doesn't stop you losing the TV discount you just avoid penalty charges on the broadband for leaving the contract early0
