Washing Machine

Can anyone help. My washing machine pump has packed in and I have a replacement, but its not the same as it used to be, it's a more updated model.
Now, there are 2 wires comming from the washing machine to the pump, one black and one yellow. One is neutral and one is live. they obviously have to go into the correct terminals to make the pump spin the right way in order to drain the washer.
The old pump does not say which wire is live and which is neutral.
Im thinking the yellow is live and black is neutral.
Can anyone advise if they think this is right.

Go for it ! IF it was the wrong polarity the drum can be easily emptied by lowering the waste pipe of the WM into a bucket, [ water will always run to it's lowest level ] this will also empty the pump, then you just swop em.0 -
It shouldn't make any difference as its an AC supply. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
