sold laptop on ebay, buyer saying faulty

Hey...

just sold a laptop on ebay. it was working perfectly until the power suply died, i know it was the power pack as it was still working until the battery was empty.. i put it on ebay 2 days after the power pack went as i was getting a new one anyways..

sent it special which cost over £20 so they got it in time for xmas.. they are now saying it doesn't power up!!!

Very confused as it was working before hand

What options do i have???

I have had to read this post several times but it still does not make sense, am i having a blonde day?!!

If the battery pack is "dead" then how do you expect the buyer to power it up ? I am very confused !
  • It was sold WITHOUT power pack.. the buyer purchased a new one. Should have put that in the last post, woops

If you knew what the problem was, why did you not rectify the faulty item first before selling it ?
  • there wasn't a problem.. it was sold without power pack.. but still in full working condition..

what you have put really doesnt make sense... there is NO fault with it apart from not having a power pack.. which the buyer knew as it was stated on the auction page.. they bought a new one for the laptop when they won the auction!!!

the buyer is saying there is a fault with it.. which there want before hand!!

In my experience very occasionally laptops don't power up when the battery has been deep discharged, even when on the mains. Ask them to leave it on charge overnight then try it again.

Assuming they have the right power unit of course.

Maybe they have brought the wrong power pack?

I brought a charger from ebay for my dell laptop a while ago, It was obviously not an original dell charger but looked like it was. My laptop ended up getting completely messed up whilst using this "new" charger, My screen messed up, powering up was intermittent, sometimes it would sometimes it wouldnt. I should of stopped using the fake charger but I didnt and the problem got worst, It got to the point the laptop was completely useless and I had to buy a new one.

Moral of the story is ONLY USE ORIGINAL POWER SUPPLIES.
  • ok, will let the buyer know about leaving it over night.. he said it has been on charge for 8 hours and still no power..

I think you were taking a risk by not replacing the faulty power pack first as this would have proved the fault.
This guy could have bought the correct power pack and the fault lies within the laptop itself.
I can see this guy returning it for a refund and he will still be out of pocket having bought a power pack.
  • nahhhh, all's ok.. just got a email from him.. he didnt connect the battery properly.. i really do give up at times.
