You can use a card reader from NatWest (and other banks too) ... can you borrow one from a friend or neighbour?#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661

Was just about to post the same thing; I used a NatWest one for Barclays transactions.JGB1955 said:You can use a card reader from NatWest (and other banks too) ... can you borrow one from a friend or neighbour?
Saves cluttering the cupboards up with multiple card readers.
I wish it would have that info printed on the card reader itself.0 -
I'm surprised to hear that all these card readers are the same - you'd have thought the banks would all have their own algorithms for security reasons.
Thankfully, my main bank has incorporated theirs into their banking app - I wish Nationwide would do the same.0 -
I don't think Marcus will let you use the Santander savings account as a linked account - in their help section it states that the linked account must be a UK current account, so you'd need to set up a Santander current account as well.whalemoney said:
the 7 day wait I could live with, I suppose. Not ideal but not the worst thing. The problem though is that I wouldn't have a bank statement as the Santander account is brand new. And I doubt they'll even send a paper statement, banks dont tend to do that these days.refluxer said:Ah... this page says you can change your nominated account in the app but it can take up to 7 working days (after you've uploaded a bank statement as proof) for it to be actioned - what a pain.

Not all the same. I don’t have one but think Barclays Pinsentry is different. I occasionally use Co-op & Nationwide interchangeably. Is the HSBC account a current account? If you can set that up with Marcus it would cut out one stage.

I use my Barclays card reader for Nationwide. As far as I know they are all the same. I have them from most of the banks and have used them randomly with other providers.badger09 said:

The Baclays one looks very different to ones from other banks who still use them but it works with cards from other banks and it's easy to figure out which buttons to press.
