New Shell fix - Energy November 2024 v2
Just been offered a new fix deal with shell…in 2 minds whether taking it or doing a referral switch to Octopus.
energy area: southern Scotland
Tariff:
Electricity
29.25/kWh
59.68/ day standing charge
Gas
7.68/kWh
18.06/ day standing charge.
the MSE calculator is out of date looking at July figures rather than October so any opinions would be welcome.

Because the calculator is using July cap figures...when October has been announced and is different to July...unless I've missed something?Alnat1 said:The calculator will do current rates, why would you expect it to do future ones?1 -

From October, the southern Scotland DD capped tariff will be:liviboy said:energy area: southern Scotland
Tariff:- Electricity 29.25/kWh, 59.68/day standing charge
- Gas 7.68/kWh, 18.06/day standing charge.
So your fix has a higher unit price but a lower standing charge.- Electricity 26.88/kWh, 62.1/day standing charge
- Gas 6.85/kWh, 29.6/day standing charge.

I think the point I was trying to make re the calculator has been lost...
The calculator doesn't have an option for displaying October price cap figures (even though these are published). The calculator was launched with the July figures at the start of June...it doesn't seem beyond reasonable to presume that people looking at fixes in September are more interested in figures post October than from the cap from months previously. That's all I meant.
