Is this an attempted Scam ?

I received a delivery notification from Yodel this morning (Your parcel is on its way)
But I am not expecting a delivery
It says that my order from CJandFE is on it's way
I have googled CJandFE and it brings up a scam linked to Yodel
The "track my parcel" link on the email does take me to the genuine Yodel website
But when I start direct at Yodeldirect.co.uk - the tracking number is not recognised
I have emailed 'information.security@yodel.co.uk' to ask them - and got back an automated response telling me that it must be genuine because it came from 'noreply@yodel.co.uk'
This appears to be an extremely clever scam - but how does the scammer gain from this ?
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

Might be that by clicking on the link you have given them access to your computer via some trojan. And just because it shows that it's from a "noreply" email address doesn't mean that's the one it really came from. I get loads of emails that look completely genuine accept for the fact that I haven't got a package coming from Amazon, don't want to meet lots of lovely Ukrainian ladies, don't need an African secret or am expecting $10kk from the UN.
So I think you should run a virus check on your device to ensure nothing nasty is lurking and watching you log on to your bank account.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. Have you ordered anything from an international company? Often use Yodel or Evri (Hermes) as the home country courier, and can be sent from a weird looking company that you may not have heard of (normally an importer or handler). If the email is genuine you’ll be getting a parcel today, if not then you won’t - or you may get a note asking for money for ‘redelivery’.Standard security advice should apply if you’re not sure if the email is legit or not (email addresses are easily spoofed), so don’t click the links, dont download images etc.
If it is fake then you’ll likely get another email asking for customs payment/redelivery fee or something. If you’ve not ordered anything from abroad then I would just ignore it or call them up to confirm if it’s legit (from a number on their website, not in the email).0 -

Doesn’t sound like a scam to me. Sounds like a legitimate notification of delivery.Yodeldirect is for sending items so the tracking link you have wouldn’t show on there.1

have you check the real 'from' address rather than the one showing ?0

I get something like 10 to 20 emails a day at the moment about deliveries for me. None of which I have ordered. All drop in google spam folder.
So if you are not expecting anything. Then bin it.Life in the slow lane2 -
I too have had a few of these, the problem is you should never need to click a link, You are either expecting a delivery or your not, the people you should call are the CS of whoever you bought it from.
I get parcels all the time I've never, ever had to click a link to get it.0
