Long stay travel insurance

Hi there, I am going to South Africa to visit family for three months and need to get travel insurance. I am mostly concerned with medical cover and personal liability as I am staying with family, so hotels aren't an issue. Disclosure, I am over 55 (but under 65).
The insurance quotes I have been getting for 90 days are pretty high! The best I have found is Avanti. I have been checking reviews of this company and they are all good, but none mention claims experiences. So I can't tell whether they actually pay out.
Any thoughts on this?

I looked at annual policies and they don't cover this many days per trip. They are still only >30 days per individual trip.0

You're basically looking for "backpackers" insurance then which focuses mainly on medical expenses (third party liability is there too but claims against that on travel insurance are very few and far between). They typically accept up to 12 or 18 months for a single trip.1

Does your house insurance cover 3 months away from home ?That's a consideration as well.0

Nationwide paid bank account is the best option, you can extend their travel insurance beyond the 90 days. Much cheaper than backpacker insurance when I looked into it for a long trip we have coming up0
