Lowell have a few addresses as they have different arms under different names, such as Lowell portfolio one ltd, and Lowell Financial ltd.

  • The letter i sent to their MD has been passed to their complaints dept and they have up to 8 weeks to respond. Let's see what BS they come back with.

So result. Lowell have upheld my complaint. Hoist never contacted me and CCJ was never taken out against me but ex partner. They're very sorry. Will stop chasing me in any shape or form. Nothing will appear on my credit file. My account is now closed. Oh and have £75 compensation. That doesn't even cover the cost of my printer toners. They'll reply to my MP by email attaching a copy of their letter. I've already submitted a complaint to the FOS, so I'll update them with my comments accordingly. On the upside I have it in writing, so can put it behind me now, some 10 months later. Thanks again for all of your support and advice. I'd have been lost without you.

    That's good.

You could push for more if you wanted. That's months of harassment over a debt that wasn't yours. £75 is not much.

The link that Bad Debtor posted showed that a judge ordered them to pay £1500. In 2010!

I absolutely will 😊. I'll write to them tomorrow telling them not to send their cheque and that we'll leave the final decision to the FOS.

I'm not saying that FOS would award that much but part of their deliberations would be to suggest a figure as compensation so it does make sense for both sides to allow them to finish their work.

I think you should mention that you are still open to the possibility of a court claim, so don't say say that the FOS decision is final. Actually you can ask for a review internally at FOS if you don't agree with them
  • I sent them a letter asking for all sorts of documentation but they just replied with this is the dates blah blah. The account is on hold for 30 days. This letter was dated 25 Jan and to date nothing further. Would you say they’ve give up? I’m thinking that if another letter does come, do I go further eg MP FOS MD?

Maybe they are taking the sensible course of waiting for FOS rather than issuing further empty threats

@Staceylou85 I wrote to FCA, FOS, MD of Lowell and my local MP. Lowell have responded to my complaint and will no longer be contacting me, which was my primary resolution. It's with the FOS now. I've told Lowell exactly what I think of them and keep their £75. I've requested exactly what they were chasing me for lol.

The FOS have been in touch with me and have requested files from Lowell. Just out of sheer bloody mindedness I've requested compensation for the same sum they've been chasing me for! They couldn't substantiate that, so why should I have to. What price can be put on the stress suffered and time wasted. Tbh I'm just happy that they've apologised and I won't hear any more from them. How their tactics can be deemed legal I've no idea. I've returned their £75 cheque and what will be will be. On the upside I'm far more knowledgeable now than I was previously 😊. I'll let you know the outcome.
