Right now I don't have confidence in their systems and it is quite discouraging to spend such a long time waiting to get through with no real success. I had already fully filled in my debit card details, including the amount, and I was apprehensive about doing it all on line a second time. The gentleman was very understanding.1 -
Thanks peter021072. I had just finished editing and updating my post before I read your post. I'm giving up now as I really have lost confidence in their system. Yes, it is good that their line is free although the time waiting to get through is quite a struggle.0

I've been attempting to put 25k in the fixed bond. I get as far as entering the card details and two factor authentication. Whilst it's thinking about authorising my card, it just throws me back to the log in page. This might be because I didn't log in in the first place, but if I do that I can't find any link to the product application. The only way of applying is via the link from the MSE weekly bulletin. NS&I make visible their other products with lower interest though.1

I had that problem too although I did eventually manage to log in and choose the Fixed 1 year bond link. I did not have any bonds already.
It was not easy to find the appropriate link and I cannot now remember how I managed it. I hope you manage to find it.0 -

Three products come up, this one is in the middle! Select it, read the bumpf and then at the bottom is the big blue box 'ready to apply' option.I didn't apply when logged in although I had to input my NS&I number and password when the system wanted me to login during the process.

What I did was to login in and then open another Tab with https://www.nsandi.com/products/guaranteed-growth-bonds and started application. It picked up my details automatically from my login.1

I found that using Firefox stalled the process - I switched to Chrome and everything worked effortlessly.

Thanks everyone I've managed to do it now. Phew!1

For reference, I logged in, clicked on the 'home' icon top left of menu bar, scrolled down past my existing accounts to 'You may be interested in ...' display of NS&I's other products, clicked the right chevron until the Guaranteed Growth Bond showed, and clicked on it and followed instructions. Not the most obvious sequence, and the above omits all the false steps along the route that I tried. There's now an easy 'Buy more Bonds' link on my dashboard for future purchases.
