OVO nightmare
We transferred from SSE to OVO in 2018 and gained a credit of over £1000 by the time the energy crisis hit so were not too concerned last year with bills knowing we had a cushion although we did start a new contract and our direct debit significantly increased. We have a smart meter and each month check our usage and payment position. We were aghast to discover in August that we went from being in credit to £800 in debt without warning, no contact from OVO. When we contacted them they advised we hadn't been billed correctly . We asked for an explanation. We still haven't had one other than this debt changed to over £2000. We contacted them again with no explanation as to what or how. On checking our account again it was amended to £900. We are trying to deal with them we have asked for calculations. We have preciously provided meter readings. The latest is that they have charged us incorrectly since we moved to them but they are only looking to recover this year under the Ofgem rules . They don't appear to be able to explain why , provide any evidence or calculations
Surely this can't be right ? Can they do this when they are at fault ? I just don't trust what they are doing but can't leave til it's sorted

I am familiar with the move SSE to OVO as it happened to me last year, I have for the past 3 years kept a spreadsheet detailing my usage and I knew how much I had spent on energy before they did but I did find you get nowhere trying to talk to them so I switched
Surely you can calculate what your bills should be if you have the readings and your rates
It's no big deal to be sure who is right or wrong then that puts your mind at ease one way or the other
There is no point getting stressed about it when you can do something about it0 -
Welcome to the forum.JBally said:We have a smart meter and each month check our usage and payment position. What did your monthly checks reveal? Were OVO using accurate meter readings? Was your handover from SSE based on accurate readings?Do you still have your old bills and meter readings?JBally said:The latest is that they have charged us incorrectly since we moved to them but they are only looking to recover this year under the Ofgem rules .JBally said:Surely this can't be right ?
