Media wall covering options

We’ve got a media wall (full height and 2m wide) that protrudes like a chimney breast and we are stuck on what to finish it with. It’s o key housing a tv and soundbar. We do like the genuine brick slips, but at £60 a sqm it seems an unnecessary expense. The 3D wall panels you stick up look a little flimsy, and I’m unsure how we would edge the return/external corner of the wall.
Any other suggestions please? Really struggling to decide!

(Not the best example, but....)

Is the photo your wall or a random example?
You say its housing your TV/soundbar so are they recessed into the wall or proud of the wall?
What's the rest of that wall/room? What style are you going for?
Ours is probably slightly different in that the TV and speakers are recessed and a projector screen drops in front of them. The whole bare brick/New York loft style is something we like but really wouldnt suit our property at all.
If you look at the AVForums lots of people post photos of them building their "home cinema" which range from a small secondhand TV on a coffee table to £100k+ dedicated media rooms with proper raked cinema chairs and everything. Certainly those guys prefer to create a dark coloured feature wall behind their TV/projector screen. For the later it makes some sense to reduce overspill but never been convinced of the need for a TV.
Not a fan of feature walls/chimley breasts personally so ours is just painted the same colour as the rest of the walls0 -

What finish is in that example, FreeBear?

There must be a mountain of options, Longwalks. What must it have? Have a dark finish? Be easy to DIY on to the wall? Be easily cuttable so you can make holes for the cables and stuff?Pinterest is your friend! I've seen some delicious stuff on there, which looks easily doable, but I wonder... Things like rough-sawn timber planks, say from old pallets. Any type of cladding used for the exteriors of buildings - I'm liking the newish trend for vertical ridges in anthracite. Or, even 'normal' house cladding - the stuff with a wood texture. This can be picked up very cheaply if you keep scouring your Fb Marketplace, and can be painted any colour. Then there's the wallboards normally used in bath and shower-rooms.BUT, go on Pinterest - and make yersel a cuppa.1

ThisIsWeird said:What finish is in that example, FreeBear?Venetian Plaster - A mix of very fine marble powder, lime putty, and a binder with a pigment added. It is applied in very thin layers (0.1-0.5mm) and then burnished. A soap and/or wax is then applied for a higher gloss finish.
