    @Gaynor72 I went with Policy Expert in the end, and recently renewed with them. Never got a definitive answer as to why Hastings would not quote for a renewal yet still appeared as one of the cheapest on comparison sites. Just said the insurer would not tell them, even though it was Advantage Insurance, part of the Hastings group. They did however say it did not count as "insurance refused / declined" or whatever on any new quotes from other companies

    Its a "decline to quote" which most insurers dont ask about because everyone who's used a comparison site under 50 will have had at least one from Saga.

    Some insurers have started to explicitly ask if you've had a decline to quote from your current insurer and so in that circumstance you would have to declare yes.
