Royal Mail tracked 24

Hi all, just to be upfront i am not looking for any compensation or claims etc for this just wanted to ask a question.
I sent a parcel this week from Nottingham to Liverpool with Royal Mail Tracked 24 with Signature, its a fairly large parcel weighing about 7Kg. It was collected from me on Tuesday morning and the tracking showed it had reached the Warrington delivery centre in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The recipient received a text saying it was due to be delivered that day between 11am - 3pm but this never happened.
It is now Sunday and so far the package still hasn't been delivered. The Warrington centre is only about a mile from the recipients address so i called RM to ask what the delay might be and if the recipient can go and pick it up instead but i was advised that's not an option and they must attempt delivery at least once before alternatives arrangements can be made. During the call i was told that Tracked 24 is not actually guaranteed, its just a next working day aim and its actually up to 10 working days and as such they won't consider any action till after the 9th September regarding my parcel.
My question is, when booking online i cannot see any reference to this "not guaranteed, only a delivery aim" in fact it actually states "Super convenient next day delivery" and to find out thats actually only an aim i have to dig through the Royal Mail website. I chose this Tracked 24 service at an extra cost of a few extra pounds based on the "Super convenient next day delivery" because i wanted to the parcel to arrive as quickly as possible to minimise any issues as much as i could (it is wrapped well and i don't see any issues arising but i'm also one who doesn't like to leave things to chance.
Just to add, the recipient is not being unreasonable at the moment but has questioned when the package might arrive considering the "Tracked 24" delivery service so i guess they also don't realise its not guaranteed.
I guess my question is, are Royal Mail purposely trying to hide this information in the hope of tricking people into paying the difference on this "Super convenient next day delivery" and should this be made more clear?

I am looking on the Royal Mail website now and as you can see in the screenshots attached it doesn't mention next day delivery aim, it says "Super convenient next day delivery, with notifications for the recipient, and a signature on delivery."
As i said i'm not looking for compensation i just feel this "not guaranteed, just an aim" should be clearer and mentioned when purchasing the delivery option as it costs a few pounds more than standard 1st class delivery which also has a 1 day delivery aim. I cannot see it on the page at all. I have to go through the site to a completely different page (see link) to find the "features" of tracked 24 which mentions next working delivery aim and i only know this because theagent on the phone told me so.

I’m not sure why you think it is dearer than standard parcels, it’s exactly the same price .
Up to 10kg standard 1st class is £6.99 (up to £20 compensation delivery confirmation only
tracked 24 is also £6.99 with up to £150 compensation and some tracking
Signed for 1st is £8.19
Tracked 24 with signature £8.19
https://send.royalmail.com/send/service?compensation=20&country=GBR&format=MediumParcel&weight=10000&weightUnit=GAlways check if signed for is actually needed, it is rarely useful since anyone can sign and isn’t needed for anything under £450 (perhaps regulars could correct me if that figure is wrong) for eBay or PayPal.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You are correct, i have looked at 1st class standard instead of 1st class signed when i've noticed the price difference so my apologies on that but my view about it not clearly stating the 24 hours is a "delivery aim", instead quoting "super convenient next day delivery" as can be seen in my screenshots and in your link is very misleading in my opinion. I don't intend to argue with anyone, and again my apologies if i have come across that way. It just feels like they've mislead myself, and from the telephone conversation with the RM agent, apparently lots of others too by not stating its a delivery aim, not a guarantee on the booking page but hiding it away elsewhere on the website.
I understand anyone can sign for the parcel too but the parcel has a value of around £140 so i figured a signed for option would be best.
I guess i'm just a bit worried that the parcel is only about a mile from its final destination yet has been sitting there for 5 days and he can't even go to the mail centre and enquire or collect it either.
I've not had many issues with Royal Mail (1 missing international package only) in all my years of using them but recently they seem to be getting bad. Even my local depot, which is down the road, where i've been dropping parcels off when booking online are refusing them now and telling me i need to travel to the other side of the city to drop them off now but they only open for 2 hours per day so thats made it even more difficult.0 -
I agree that it is frustrating that RM24 doesn’t state clearly that it isn’t a guaranteed service, having tried a few ways of looking for information is does appear to be clearer on some pages than others, and I agree that the Rm click and drop site is not clear at all.I think some of us, including myself, who use Rm regularly are so used to the services and what they actually mean that we forget when someone new doesn’t automatically see what we see, and I apologise for that. The only guaranteed next day service that Rm offer is special delivery , and reading some threads here and elsewhere even that’s seems to go pear shaped occasionally, but with special delivery you do at least get the postage cost back if the guarantee isn’t met (and it is expensive!)
Strictly speaking RM24 is just a compensation enhanced standard 1st class service, but it seems that in some areas where post is not delivered daily, the RM24 and RM48 is prioritised. I use RM48 only where I need the enhanced compensation (as you did in your case).I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Did you have a returns address on the parcel? If so if it is not picked up - it will be sent back to you.0
