I have the POPLA code, but I'd intended to simply ignore their claim from this point onwards. If they were stupid/vindictive enough to take me to court, I really can't see a Judge agreeing that their system's failure to record my reg number trumps the evidence I'd paid to use the car park and also have the hotel appealing on my behalf as they seem genuinely embarrassed this has happened.
Instead I'd intended to use my time to cause them inconvenience and hassle. I appreciate they are easy to "beat" (I'd be keen to know what this magic line of text entails) but that doesn't hurt them; it just denies them the conversion of one of thousands of cons they are running. I'd like to think that if enough people lobby the various land owners that it must have some bearing on their ability to renew contracts?
I'll also be following up with ICO requests to delete my data as they cannot hold onto data they have no use for. They're either going to have to sue me or remove my details. They can't just sit on them.
I've never encountered such a genuinely dislikeable organisation in my life - they deserve more than simply being bypassed.0 -
