Is it worth Paying the CEDR for third party mediation?

Im asking this here because im trying to save money with third party mediation with google play.

Recently google play wrongly suspended one of my apps.

I disagree with their decision.  I appealed internally with Google with significant supporting evidence and it was rejected several times.

They advised me while ago to contact the European Commision and use the DSA / DMA.  I contacted the ECC and they said the DSA wont be effective till March 2024 the earliest.   Great!

But they did advise me about using a third party mediator called the CEDR.

So my question is has anyone ever used the CEDR and if so how was it, did you get the desired outcome and do you have any advice?

My concerns about the CEDR are that firstly the charge lot of fees and secondly they tell you that even if they rule in your favour they cant enforce their decision.

They can request to Google to reinstate the app but Google can doesnt have to comply.... So then this would be a waste of money.

  • Well I think you've answered your own question there. It's worth paying them to the extent that you think Google would participate in and comply with the process and not if they won't.

No idea how much money might be at stake here but unless it's significant I would imagine it wouldn't be worthwhile.
