Credit card insurance transaction mistakenly credited

My credit card was used fraudulently and those transactions were rightfully refunded.
However the bank also refunded my lump sum payment for house and car insurance, even though I had said that was legitimate.
My insurance is still live on the insurers website and I have not had any notification of it being cancelled.

Any advice appreciated re if my insurance is comprised.

Call your insurers & explain what's happened & pay again.
  • Call your bank.

Call both your bank and your insurer but do the first first.

They may be able to withdraw the chargeback on the insurance transactions (I assume it's the mechanism they use) and so leave the monies with your insurers. If so just advise your insurers an erroneous chargeback was put through but has already been withdrawn. They may however not be able to in which case just call your insurers to pay again.

Call bank quick, before they start the fraud chargeback process. They can then redebit you & make sure that they do not report to insures as fraud.
I would also advise ins co, so they can reject any chargeback on the basis it is genuine, which they should do anyway. But better to make them aware 👍

  • Thanks all, is sorted and fully insured while it's sorted. Bank had notified insurers so glad I called them both.
