Industrial Injuries claim
DAVEWHEELER
My cousin has recently been involved in an industrial injury and I am trying to help him with his industrial injury claim. He was, before his accident a HGV driver and, though he says he is self-employed, he worked for only one company and had a contract of employment and his salary was paid through the company's umbrella company. Can he still claim industrial injuries benefit?

You need to ascertain his correct legal status and ensure he uses that language going forward. With the mention of an umbrella it's likely he is an employee of the umbrella company.
Whose fault was the accident? They may be entitled to Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit however if the accident isnt their fault then any loss of earnings would be covered by the at fault party anyway assuming they cannot perform their role any more.1
