Mince pie inflation watch

During my lunch break today I popped into Sainsbury's round the corner from MSE Towers and noticed that the mince pies have appeared on the shelves:

I thought I'd have a look at how the £2.75 price compared to previous years, and it looks like the equivalent product was £2.25 in 2022.

So that's an increase of 22 per cent on last year.

Looking at some mince pie reviews from 2021, it looks like they were sold at £1.50 for at least part of the season. (It's possible I suppose that the high initial price is to pave the way for an offer - Nectar prices or similar - as Christmas approaches.)

Have you spotted any mince pies on the shelves yet, and how do the prices compare to previous years?

I am guessing this was in a Sainsbury's Local?  They are already on Nectar Price at £1.75 in larger stores:

@pumpkin89 - thanks - very interesting. Yes it's a Local (one of the bigger ones that used to be a Sainsbury's Central, and doesn't really feel like a Local).

Wonder if Sainsbury's will follow Tesco's lead at some point and extend Nectar Prices to Local stores?

They'll start off expensive for price establishment purposes then the "special" offers will begin.

I am a big fan of mince pies but at 46p per pie won't be buying them in a hurry. My chocolate consumption has also diminished since prices went up, much as I like both the prices have crossed the threshold of what I am prepared to pay for them.

Lots of OSers say they prefer their own mince pies, but I'm not going to lie - mine are never as tasty as the nicest ones found in the shops.

Good grief. the C word is banned for a few more months but guess Easter eggs (the creme ones) might already (or still) available.
No fun when these items are there all the time, think Hot cross buns in summer.

Haven't seen these but I did buy Hot Cross Buns in Morries the other day.
And I was told when asking why there was no Stollen on Boxing day and told because Christmas was over - and that the Easter eggs are in the store storage from pre Christmas.
