this was caused by Welsh Water. Our connection in the road burst, when they dug up the road water shot 20ft in the air. When they connected it back up all the mud, stone shot up in to our house and overwhelmed toilet system and blocked it with stones (pressure is amazing on the mountains ) they spent 2 days cleaning our pipes in the house and sorting the issue out.
anyway, we’ve had dryers out under the floor boards (our electric has doubled since ) and servayour has been out and we have a cash settlement off (I have to pay my £750 excess ) which I need to get off the water authority now!

Anyway, do you decline the first offer? Is that a thing? I’ve never claimed before ! How do I know what I’m getting is enough etc?

Are you claiming on your own house insurance or is the water company insurance covering it?.

I’m claiming on my house insurance as I was told by the water company to give them the reference number and they’ll sort the rest0

I would hold off until you know the full extent of the damage. You've just said recently so not sure how long ago.
We had an escape of water claim in the kitchen where they put in dehumidifiers but in the end it was a full rip out and refit needed.
Once everything is dried out check if you need new flooring, decorating etc. and add up everything including extra electricity and then present this to them.
Don't be rushed into accepting an offer. If you've to pay the excess up front speak to the water company, although it will normally be taken off any offer.1
