Meter not registered - back billing rules?
Upon moving into my property I signed up with a supplier who started to bill me. After a meter reading I received a large refund that I subsequently had to repay.
I suspected there was an issue with my meter and contacted the supplier to ask them to investigate (the property was formerly one dwelling that has been converted to flats). The supplier took no action.
I decided to transfer to a different supplier who told me that I couldn't transfer as the meter was not registered to my address and that my current supplier would need to register it before I was able to transfer to them.
I raised a complaint and had my account suspended whilst they dealt with this. Fast forward several years and they have finally registered the supply and I can now leave. In the meantime, through no fault of my own, I missed out on a 2 year fix that would have only just expired.
My question therefore is this - do the Ofgem back billing rules apply here - that they can only bill me for the previous 12 months?
