Typical cost of removals these days

We moved about 3 years ago. The removals company charged us about £1200, which at the time wasn't the most expensive.
We're now moving again, and the same company has quoted us £2780. That's a whopping increase. We will of course get some more quotes, but just interested in other opinions on a fair price.
This is a 3 bed bungalow we're talking about here, with roof rooms. Moving about 25 miles.

I moved a year ago and paid £690 to pack a 4 bedroom house and £1825 to move it 50 miles. I remember getting quotes over £4k just for the move so it is worth shopping around. If it includes packing it sounds about right to me, but if not it seems a bit on the high side.

Moved a 4 bed house 200 miles last week from London and paid £2917. That included £600 for a packing service (80 boxes). Had another similar quote and a £4000 quote though that firm offered to remove the VAT if I paid cash!

All with no packing we found the following..with garage and small shed 25 mile move

2 bed house £800-£900 1 truck 2 people
3 bed house £1100-1400 2 trucks 3 people
4 bed house £1200-£1600 2 trucks 4 people.

Thanks folks. This quote did not include a packing service. We'll be doing that. 
Does seem quite high, so we're shopping around for more quotes.

Try also getting quotes from removers based in the town you're moving to, rather than from.

2 bed flat + garage to 3 bed house
Very short distance - under 1 mile
No packing - but 80 boxes supplied
Just a shade under £1000 (Apologies, can't recall the exact figure)

This is from a local, very well established firm with excellent reviews and feedback.

I think we're getting ripped off here. Which is what I suspected.

Moved 4yrs ago and paid £650.

Mind it was 5mins up the road - but there was so much stuff I think they regretted the price.

Kindly put all the potted plants around the non existant garden to look nice. I did notice that the gnome was turned with his backside to view and wondered if that was a comment

I’m due to move on 15th September. I have booked the removal company to move all the big items (3 x tvs,2 x beds,couches,washing machine, 2 x desk, 2 x drawers, 3 wardrobes, garden table, outside storage box) all for £350! Moving from a 3 bedroom to a 3 bedroom
