Application made online on the 21st of April. Documents received on the 2nd of May. Application approved as per email received yesterday on the 12th of May (surprising on a Sunday). Several bank accounts, investments and property however a simple estate where spouse (me) is sole executor/beneficiary with no IHT. I was proactive however in ringing them up after I filed to get an email I sent them attached to the application clarifying one of the definitions in the will that might suggest assets abroad/another will. Shocked at how quick it’s been.1

Another quick probate approval story!
23rd April - Submitted online
23rd April - Posted the original will
2nd May - Receipt of will acknowledged
13th May - Probate granted
Very straight forward case - will naming son as beneficiary, assets included a house, some shares and small amount of savings plus a few debts, no IHT. Applied direct online, no solicitor.

Reading all these pages, and I'm starting to worry as approaching week 16 and after ringing the contact centre to find out if the query they emailed me about in March was ok and my application progressing, I was told it was not even reviewed since, so 2 months and nothing progressed.
Submitted and sent documents - 5th Feb 2024
Receipt of papers - 20th Feb
Query emailed and responded to - 14th March
So I'm at week 14 and expecting the worst......of delays

Well, emotional day, just starting on Week 15, and got the email to tell me probate granted, and then why its so upsetting, the association to what it represents of a loss of a loved parent and all they strived for - and of course the relief too. Perhaps ringing them last week helped too! Thanks for this forum the experiences and suggestions has been really helpful, supportive knowing we're all in this together, good luck to all those still waiting, it'll come xx4

Evening,
Thought I’d leave a positive post .

Hope that gives hope to other forumites.1 -
Our experience is terrible. Paper application submitted on 1st October 2023 by my solicitor. Email sent to our solicitor on 4th March 2024 to say application has now been uploaded and will be reviewed within16 weeks. So 8 months and counting. Absolutely disgraceful.1

erind based on my recent experience it would appear something has gone horribly wrong with your application, I submitted a paper application (PA1A) for my Brother on the 15th of May, it was received by the probate office on the 16th of May (sent by Royal Mail signed for).I had email confirmation of receipt on the 28th of May and today the 30th of May had written confirmation in the post that it had been scanned and uploaded to their system together with the return of the original death certificate. Hoping for a speedy resolution so I can finally get closure on things and I hope you have the same.(edit) cheque for the £300 fee left my account today 31st of May.1

Yes my experience does seem like something has gone wrong . Although reading different discussion forums there are a lot of people having a similar experience to me. There seems to be no logic to how cases are being dealt with. My solicitor is chasing this up now. Fortunately she is a good friend so she is as frustrated as me. Fingers crossed your application is processed quickly.2
