Music Magpie.

Hello,
I recently tried to sell my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 ultra for the agreed price of £400 via musicmagpie.co.uk. On 8th June 2023 I sent it using the provided pre-paid label & obtained proof of posting from the post office. On 24th June I contacted Music Magpie as the tracking number stated that it was still at the post office. They said I needed to supply a copy of proof of posting which I did. It wasn't until 27th July that I received an email requiring me to supply proof of posting & the IMEI number. I immediately replied giving them the proof of posting picture again & asked how I can get the IMEI number without the tablet. I got an email requesting proof of purchase which i provided & on 21st August I received an email that states that they have been in contact with Very & have the serial number.
My question is two-fold: how would they have got the serial number without posing as the account holder & am I entitled to compensation?
Any help would be grateful.

You don't make it clear how Very are involved in all of this.
Is that who you bought the tablet from in the first place?
If so, how would Music Magpie have known this? Did you tell them?1 -
compensation for what?
Did you receive the agreed payment from music magpie?1 -

Also, when you sell to them you need to put in the serial number (the IMEI) ?0

Thanks for your comments. I purchased the tablet through Very. At no point was I asked to provide the IMEI number & I haven't received anything from Music Magpie. Unless someone used my Very account number (without my permission) I don't see how they could have obtained the information.0

OK, how would they have known you purchased it from Very if a) you didn't tell them, and/or b) they claim not to have received the tablet? Hundreds of places sell tablets, and it's not as if you can tell the initial retailer even if they had received it.
Something is amiss here.1 -
I had to send them a statement to show proof of purchase.0

Can you confirm if MusicMagpie have received the device and/or paid you for it?
Have you asked MusicMagpie why they contacted Very? That would probably be the first step.0 -
