Hotel refusing refund for an unsuitable room

The crux of this will be whether the booking was for actually for a twin room, or whether the booking was for a room that can sleep 2 people, with a preference made for twin.
May sound like the same thing but it's not. Some hotels will offer Double or Twin as different room types. Some just offer Double/Twin and you can make a preference. In the latter case the T&C's often state this is just a preference which will be noted but not guaranteed. This is more often the case through agents, but sometimes even booking with a hotel directly you get this.
I often book where I need two separate beds and I'm careful to look at what I'm booking in those cases.
OP what exactly did your booking from the agent state? If they confirmed a Twin room then you may have a case. If it was just a preference then probably not. If you're willing to name the agent and hotel maybe people can look at replicating the process to see where you stand.
Also agree with @Westin this isn't on the correct board, hopefully a mod may be able to move it @heatherw_01
