New driver insurance - affordability

Daughter passed her driving test on Monday, obviously we were delighted.
Spent yesterday trawling for full insurance quotes - its even more horrific than I expected! 17yo female new driver on a 0.9L, 2014 Renault Clio is coming in, generally, over £3000 with a black box. Best quote so far after several hours of searching is £2207 fully comp.
>Car kept on drive overnight
>Me (Dad) as a named driver
>She's a full time student with a part time waitressing job
>We had 7 months on a learner policy but they cancelled it when we told them she passed so no NCB or benefit from that.
>Quoting for 2-3 weeks advance start date
Anyone have any other tips or any hints on how to bring this staggering cost down? Yet another thing young people are priced out of.

Insurance for everyone has gone up the past year too, not just young people.0

The waitressing job will work against her.
Even if she works in a no alcohol establishment and finishes at lunchtime the risk will be priced on access to alcohol and late night finishes.

The model car may be a factor too...not just the Ins Group. Cars in the same "group" can still be rated differently.
Renault Clio's are very popular with young drivers and probably have the claims statistics to match. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.52% of current retirement "pot" (as at end October 2024)0
