Options
Hiya
I took out a loan back in 2018, I filed for a DRO in 2020 all OK still no debt etc all swimming along and today I have just had a call about an unpaid debt nothing paid for 3 years, I assumed it was included in my DRO but I can't see it on my list of creditors included...I'm panicking...any advice please?
Thanks

Could it have been on the list in a different form?

For example was it a debt to one company that has been sold to another?

In any case, the golden rule is not to respond to phone calls. Indeed, not to engage at all. If you pick up a call by accident just close it and block the number if you can

If it is important they'll write - and you can post again.
  • Ok thank you, it does seem odd they are chasing after all this time if it wasn't on my DRO. They said my last payment was 3 years ago.

I had a look on my form and I don't actually think it is on there, because I have the companies that took the debt on and the companies I borrowed from in brackets.

I just didn't want to hide from it and it escalate. I did lots of hiding years ago 🫣

It`s more common than you may think, old insolvency debts are regularly sold on, just on the off chance your arrangement should fail, and the debt once again becomes collectable.

Occasionally the new buyer has no knowledge of any insolvency, also as you say, it might be an old debt you forgot about.

Call`s/emails/texts can all be ignored, if they want to get serious, they will write to you, at which time you can ask for more details of the debt they are chasing, until then, do nothing.

  • Thank you so much, I know I can rely on you both for support. Always have. I will lay low for now and come back to you if they chase me down.

I did just think all my debt has now come off my clearscore record, and that's not on there either. So as far as that's concerned I have no outstanding debt.

    Xx
