I have a 40 year old non condensing boiler which is beyond repair and warned not to use when I tried to have it serviced in April 2023. I was contacted by an installer who told me I am eligible for a free boiler under ECO4 Flex Eligibility scheme.I do not claim any benefits but have a health condition made worse by living in a cold home.   Would I qualify for the ECO4 grant?
Thanks for any information.

Why have you waited over four months to get the ball rolling?

Sorry to hijack this thread.  Our most recent EPC was a C but our gas boiler has stopped working and is probably beyond economical repair so we are currently using electric space and water heating so would get a lower score - would this make us eligible for ECO4? Thanks
    I think....

I am weeks off receiving the State Pension and have no income now , how can I prove my none income i.e it is below £31000 or do I wait  before applying until I receive the State Pension ?  I would be applying for ECO 4 Flex scheme.

ECO4 Flex is administered by your local authority. As it says in the FAQ:
You may wish to contact your LA for more information, or to find out if you meet the eligible criteria.
(As an aside, if you have zero income, have you applied for any other benefits?)

Thanks but still not clear to me if the Max EPC D requirement applies and, if so, whether the boiler no longer working would mean that the current C EPC would be downgraded?

  • I qualify under ECO4 Flex Eligibility scheme but would need to be referred by my GP.  I meet two routes to qualify , would it be possible to ask administration staff at the practice to get the necessary declaration  without me seeing the doctor?  The doctors are overwhelmed I am afraid to approach my GP to get this signed letter which needs to be sent by the surgery to the local authority. The Flex Eligibility scheme is onerous.

How would anyone of this forum know: all GP practices are privately owned businesses that provide services to the NHS. I would contact ‘admin’ at your surgery either by email or by contacting one of the reception staff.  They should be able to tell you what your surgery’s procedures are for getting your form signed.
