Tax Tree Fraudulent PPI Tax Rebate Claim?

Hi all,
Has anyone had any dealings with this company and can advise me how to proceed?
This all started a couple of months ago when I got the standard email from HMRC that there was a change to my tax code. Genuine email, no links and I logged into Gov gateway in the normal fashion.
Whilst there I noticed I was due a tax refund. Said cheque would arrive in up to three weeks.
Thought no more of it but after a month nothing arrived so I gave them a call.
Turns out this was for a refund on tax paid on a PPI claim.
I have never employed this company to deal with any of my affairs and I can assure you that signature is not mine!
I have drafted a letter to send to them below.
Do think this is ok and adequate?
Many thanks for reading this post and I look forward to any replies/advice.
TC.

If it is fraudulent then how have they obtained the details of the interest paid alongside the PPI refund?
And if it is fraudulent do you actually expect a response?0 -
Both are questions I cannot answer, hence my post requesting advice. What more can I say?

Remove the "hope this finds you well" as that is too familiar for a company you have no dealings with and has acted in a manner you consider fraudulent. You can trim that letter significantly be removing duplication and wishy washy and bullet point what you want to make it stand out. Short, sweet and to the point.
You may also wish to consider turning it into a letter before action and give them 28 days notice to pay.
Trustpilot reviews are full of people claiming the same as you.

It's massively over-written. You can delete around 90% of it.
It's irrelevant whether you are responsible, law-abiding, your views on personal integrity and so on.
Tell them what you want in thirty words or less. The first first, third and fourth bullets are pretty much all you need.0 -
This will be of no help, but if you have ever "enquired" about a free PPI check in the past or used a CMC to claim, then this electronic signature may have been generated at the time. Somewhere in the murky T&C's it would have mentioned some "carefully selected partners" or similar, where your data may have been passed. I am not justifying this in any way....its how these pond dwellers work. contact HMRC and remove them as your Tax Agents, or you ,ay find that they perpetually take a cut of anything else heading your way in the future.
I work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!0
