Moving Abroad

We have an ambition to move to Scandinavia with our family but do not know where to start. Where is the best place to go to find out the particulars on eligibility, visas, buying a home, moving our business across, tax etc. Do we need to consult a solicitor or is it a matter for citizens advice?

They both found that Spring and Autumn didn't exist, and you'd go from Winter to Summer and back again seemingly overnight. The long daylight hours in summer can wreck your body's sleep pattern, and the almost complete absence of daylight in winter is equally unhelpful.
What struck DH was that it's almost completely impossible to socialise informally: you can't go and ring someone's doorbell in the winter, because you'll freeze half to death while you wait to be let in.
So do make sure you've visited in all (both?) seasons before you commit yourself. And start learning Finnish. And learn to sauna - they really do make a hole in the ice to cool off in winter, or roll in the snow.
The education system seems brilliant. You can't charge for anything, so there are no private schools, and everyone gets free school meals. Formal education doesn't start until the age of 7.Signature removed for peace of mind1 -

In all honesty I imagine it would be difficult unless you or your partner are EU citizens, or you can find an employer willing to sponsor you to work there. Nothing is impossible of course, but unless you've got a wodge of spare cash to invest then it becomes harder to justify eligibility for visas etc.1
