Carpet threshold bar.

There is a 2cm wide carpet bar between our bedroom and en-suite with grippers on both sides. The carpet on the bedroom side was cut too short and over the years, as you can see in the picture, it has frayed somewhat and is no longer properly gripped by the grippers. It has become a trip hazard.
At present the bar is under the door when the door is closed.
A wider bar to replace the existing bar would presumably solve the problem although the bar would then be visible when the door is closed. That won't bother us.
I have considered getting a wide bar that doesn't have grippers and screwing that in place over the existing bar. That would mean that the screws would be visible and there might be a clearance problem with the door. As you can see the door already scrapes across the en-suite carpet although there is a few mms clearance to the bar when the door is closed.
Is there a more elegant or better solution?
Brass or wood would suit us.
Thanks
The en-suite is top, the bedroom is bottom in the photo.

A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

Looks to me as if the door is snagging carpet and pulling it away from bar, which could explain the carpet fraying as it is pulled away from bar. First thing to do is get door clearance sorted then look into wider bar.2

Replace it with a wider bar with screws and without grippers - like this oneYou can fix the carpet with few small nails first before adding the bar.Such bar is pushed by screws down and is unlikely to be higher than the existing one. Screw heads don't create any problem.2

The screw heads should be flat head and the bar shown above shows how they sit down below or level with the bar.
I had these in my last house and easier on the feet.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

Won't the carpet stretch with the help of a knee kicker?Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.1

Give the riser hinges a try, may save having to plane the door.2

Thanks for the replies and suggestions.
The door is not the problem as it is pulling on the en-suite carpet side and not the bedroom side which is where the problem lies. We will plane the bottom of the door if and when we get a new carpet in the en-suite.
As it happens we have a carpet fitter fitting 2 new John Lewis carpets in other rooms next month. I have sent him pictures and he says he will sort it out free of charge when he visits.

Update:
The carpet fitter came this morning to fit 2 new carpets in other rooms and he has sorted out the bedroom en-suite issue.
He lifted the carpet on the bedroom side by a few inches, cut off an inch of the underlay and fitted a length of gripper there next to the threshold bar.
He then stretched the bedroom carpet and it now fits snugly held by the new gripper and the original threshold bar.
It looks fine now and should hopefully last long term.
