Cleaning Bathroom Extractor Fan?

There is a standard? simple? extractor fan in the bathoom ceiling.
Above the round plastic fitting is a fine mesh which I think may be metal? It has a build up of dust trapped on the mesh which clearly means the fan isn't drawing out moisture etc. as well as it should.
What is the best way to clean this mesh please?
Should I be able to dismantle it from the ceiling or do I need to go into the loft - which seems unnecessarily complicated. The plastic fitting will move round but I'm not sure how to get it off the ceiling - or even if it should come off - there are no visible fixings.
I have tried an old toothbrush but think the mesh needs to be scrubbed in a bowl of soap & hot water.
Anyone know how I can access the mesh please?
Thank you

Sounds similar to mine. I just pull the grill cover away with my fingernails and clean the mesh under running water with an old toothbrush. It just snaps back on when done.1

Will a Hoover with a brush attachment do it?If not, please post a photo of so we can try and ID the model.1

Thank you for positive responses. I tried the hoover but it either wasn't strong enough or couldn't get near enough to the mesh. Picture below.

Well, it looks like a HIB Cyclone extractor, but the supplied instructions are truly pants, and says nothing about how to remove to clean. There's a good chance it's as TT says, and the way the round cover rotates would suggest it's a push-on fitting (unless it's unscrewing!), but I'd be wary of trying this until you know for sure. Or, if you try, you should be able to tell quite quickly whether the cover is prising off, or if you are pulling it all down from the ceiling... For the former, it should spring/snap back when tension released.I'd ask HIB themselves, tobesure tobesure. Or, if it's on Amazon, ask on there as existing customers are usually very good at answering.Meanwhile, do you have a slim paint brush? Set the fan running - at full speed if it's variable - and brush away; all the loosened dust should be sucked away.

Yeah its definitely same as ours. HIB too. Just get your fingers around the edge and pull to remove, rotating it slightly often helps.
Snaps back on easy enough, just make sure not to rotate too much as it can displace the mesh.2 -
Thank you both your help/advice very much appreciated.1
