Moving House - Advice on whether to stick with current supplier please?

I'm moving house this week and not sure what the current advice is on whether to stick with current supplier (major company) or continue with sellers company (minor company). I'm moving from electricity only to a gas and electricity home, does that make any difference? And whether to fix or not (I don't think there's any advantage just now as cap reduces?). Thanks in advance.

You would close your account with the provider at current house and then take on the provider at the new one whoever that is, it may be the same.
The only exception to this is if you are perhaps on a juicy fixed rate now, some providers do allow you to port it across but you need to have asked and it's not always allowable.
Ensure all meters are read in both houses, same applies for the water of course (although no choice of provider there)1 -
Hi,when you get new house you are on a deemed contract with the existing supplier, contact them and give meter readings, don't get talked into a fix. Then you are free to switch to another supplier if you find a good deal.1

Never let anyone take opening or closing meter readings on your behalf (except an official meter reader).Always insist on doing it yourself, even if you have to make a fuss to gain access to a cupboard or meter room.If you don't you could end up paying for usage by others.2
