That's really useful, thanks. I am new to this and you have shown me the difference between the roles of the defence statement and the witness statement. So, in the former, I am better to hold cards close to my chest but answer the allegation in para. 3, whilst using the rest of the template in the Newbies thread as it is written. Then, later, flesh it out in the witness statement when that time comes.
It's not just a case of "fleshing it out" your witness statement needs to back up and support, with evidence, your defence.  It will be slightly longer and provide more detail as it is a narrative, the story of what happened on the day and subsequently.

Just an update on this one, as I appreciate it has been a while since I posted.

UKCPM missed the deadline for filing so the case was stayed. They then filed and it was reopened.

I sent in DQ on 31 October by email and by post and sent copies to claimant and their solicitor. Heard nothing except bounceback email from the court.

Chase on 18 December by email as nothing had been uploaded to public portal and I was getting concerned.

Received letter on 28 December (dated 20 December) advising I had failed to send in DQ.

Called the helpline and the person said they are currently processing DQs sent in mid November. I said mine was sent end of October. He said as long as I have a bounceback email that is my confirmation. I queried this, as if they have processed DQs up until mid November, mine was sent in October and I received a letter in December saying I had failed to send then both the posted and emailed DQ must have somehow become lost.

Advisor said to send in again by post and by email, which I have done today. This time by recorded delivery.

Hopefully this time they will receive it..

I went to the court hearing today for this one.

Good news! It was dismissed by the judge as UKCPM had filed a copy of their contract with the landowner which only listed one enforcement reason 'no parking on roadway' which was not relevant to their POC (parking without a permit).

Apologies for no update, but the date and request for witness statement was right before a two week holiday and it was a real rush to get it in.

I went through all the example witness statements in the Newbies thread to create mine, so thank you to Citizen_K, GolfR12, Lought_TA, _blueberry_ and vincentvega27 for their examples.

A massive massive thank you to Le_Kirk, Coupon-mad, KeithP and B789 as the advice on here has been second to none.

It was Hastings County Court and it was before Deputy District Judge Paul.

Fantastic result.  Well done you; and that Judge.  Did UKCPM send a legal rep to try to argue the toss?
