I brought some wardrobes and drawers set from the range just over 6 months ago long story short during the time of having the last 3 weeks in the night 2 of the glass panels have slid off the wardrobe doors and another has dropped slightly and 2 panels have come off the drawers ive contact the range saying this must be a manufacturing fault and asked what are they prepared to do about it as I've paid another of money for this set to last longer than this there reply was that I have to pay for an independent assessment to be done and send them the report is this right or fair ? If so how do I do this cheaply I'm not made of money. Please help an extremely exhausted mum.

Yes that is the consumer regulations. After 6 months you have to prove the fault.Meand2 said:I brought some wardrobes and drawers set from the range just over 6 months ago long story short during the time of having the last 3 weeks in the night 2 of the glass panels have slid off the wardrobe doors and another has dropped slightly and 2 panels have come off the drawers ive contact the range saying this must be a manufacturing fault and asked what are they prepared to do about it as I've paid another of money for this set to last longer than this there reply was that I have to pay for an independent assessment to be done and send them the report is this right or fair ? Hello OP
Goods have to be durable, whilst considering price and description, and your position would be the wardrobes are not.
As above after 6 months the burden of proof is placed upon the consumer, unless it is obvious from looking at the goods that they do not conform. Proof doesn't have to be 100% but rather on the balance of probability that at least shows the goods have not be damaged by user error/misuse.
You could ask a furniture maker to have a look and write down their opinion of the quality of the goods and the issue(s) that is occurring.
You could also send a letter before action to The Range and hope they fold.
As a side note, after 6 months a deduction for use is permitted if they refund instead of repair/replace, that should be relatively small for just over 6 months but worth a note there isn't a right to a full refund due to the timeframe

There are companies that will inspect furniture to provide a report. I've never used one so can't recommend one. A Google search will reveal several .0

If you post a link to that photographic evidence you will get a lot of advice and opinions from our collective skills and experience about what the problems are, what caused them and how they can be fixed.Meand2 said:Hey 👋 would you know how I go about doing this ive sent them photographic evidence how do I get an independent assessment done.
That alone will not constitute the independent report needed but will guide you on how to proceed and won't cost you anything.0
