HELP - Sainsburys Bank savings won't give me my £4K back!
[Deleted User]
In short, 9th July I opened a Sainsburys Savings account
9th July I transferred £4K to the account from a Transferwise account the GBP part of it
After a week it had not shown up, and eventually Sainsburys admitted that they had it and would send it back as it had arrived from an International account that they cannot accept
Today nearly 2 months have passed and Sainsburys have only said that they are waiting for HSBC? And can't give me a timeline.
Any advice appreciated on next steps on how to get this money back

Is HSBC your bank from where the money is coming ? Have you contacted HSBC if it is your bank ?
I have a few Sainsbury’s Bank savings accounts and they are anything but crap.Mortgage free

International bank transfers are not part of the normal services provided by typical UK savings providers, Presumably, HSBC is providing Sainsbury's clearing services. As this is a manual back-office activity that falls outside the services Sainsbury's Bank has agreed to provide you, it is not surprising it is taking some time. All you could do is submit a formal complaint now, so that if the payment hasn't been made in 8 weeks from now, you could involve the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Thanks @masonic formal complaint to Ombudsman or Sainsburys? I message online to Sainsburys via "File a complaint" from the week after the money was not visible, so about 6 weeks ago.
It isn't an international transfer though, it's a UK account number and sort code.
Yes HSBC is the clearing bank0 -
If you've already complained to Sainsbury's about 6 weeks ago, then you can refer your complaint to the Ombudsman in about 2 weeks time. You must give Sainsbury's at least 8 weeks from the date of your original complaint for them to resolve before you can do this.

Just for info, I have never had any issues transferring GBP from Nationwide to my Wise GBP balance and vice versa.
I have also funded my Wise account from Al Rayan, Chase and Santander without any problems.
As you say, Wise provide a UK sort code and normal 8 digit account number.1 -
unless you made some mistake in your transfer from wise it will not have come from an 'internationally bank account' as the wise account will have a UK sort code and a UK account number and will look like (and indeed be) a UK account
you need to go back to Sainsbury's and clear this up - the international account appears to be a red herring2
